A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

A PALACE DESTROYED.

Received January 21, 12.40 a.m. CONSTANTINOPLE, January 20. A fire originating in a room between the Sultan's private apartments and the Chamber of Deputies destroyed the Chiragan Palace, erected at the cost of four million pounds. The fire is attributed to defective heating apparatus, though there are suggestions afloat ascribing it to reactionaries. Sailors from the Russian and American gunboata were among the fii*3t on the scene, and rendered splendid assistance.
