NEWCASTLE STRIKE.* TRIAL OF PETER BOWLING. United Press Association—ay jiaeciric Telegraph Copyright. Received January 20, 12.28 a.m. SYDNEY, January 19. The hearing of the cases against Peter Bowling and others was continued to-day. The police in their evidence, said that Bowling urged the miners to be orderly and not insult the polce. Bowling, in asking to be acquited, pleaded, that he could be doing better work outside than taking up the time in the Court. He added that undoubtedly had the trial not delayed matters in connection with t a settlement of the dispute there might have been peace by now. The application for acquittal was refused. Bowling then secured an adjournment till Monday.
