There is a better demand for beef, but no change in prices. Last quotations—New Zealand hinds 3Jd per lb, fores 2|d. | The butter market is firm with a good demand. The average Drice of choicest New Zealand butter is 112s per cwt. The cheese market is firm; there I is a general and active demand, j i Finest New Zealand white cheese I averages 57s per cwt. and coloured I 565. The hemp market is dull; buyers are cautious. Prices are as follow New Zealand good fair, on spot, £27 10s per ton; fair, £26 15s; Manila, fair current, £26 10s. January-March shipment Good fair, £27: fair, £26; Manila, £25 10s. The output of Manila fur toe week was 22,000 bales. The cocksfoot aped market is quiet, but holders are firm at las: quotations. New Zealand 171b seed 755. The wheat market is firm—last quotations: New Zealand shortberry 395, longberry 39s 6d. The oats market isj firm, but the supply meets the demand. The price of New Zealand short oats, sparrowbills, on spot, ex granary, is 19s 3d per 3841b; New Zealand Danish oats, 18s per 3201b. The bean market remains firm at 4s 6d for New Zealand, f.a.q., old crop. The pea market is firm, but business is dull on account of high prices. New Zealand partridge peas are quoted ats6s per 5041b. The wool market is firm with more enquiry; the market is effected by general improvement in trade, and is advancing owing to the strong de- ; mand. Hops remain firm, there is a general and active demand.
