TORN BY SHARKS.
DANGER OF SURF BATHiNG. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received January 17, 10.35 a.m. SYDNEY, January 17. A man named Lyons was drowned while surf-bathing at Newcastle. Two other bathers had a narrow escape, but were rescued by the Surf Club. Shortly afterwards sharks tore Lyons' body to pieces in view of a crowd watching on the shore.
