FLOODS.
IN NEW SOUTH WALES. TAMWORTH INUNDATED. GREAT DAMAGE TO CROPS. HEAVY LOSSES OP STUCK. United Press "Association—By Elecirio Telegraph Copyright. | Received January 17, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, January 16. The weather cleared yesterday, and is now bright and sunny. Eleven inches of rain has fallen at Tamworth since Tuesday. The river overflowed and inundated a portion oi the town, including the main streets. The water in the shops ranged from 4ft to 10ft deep. Great damagee was done. All the low-lying~lands along, the river _are under water. Jf _ Some of the setters' houses were swept away, and others were compelled to seek refuge in '-•tick-'. l'hs latest reports are to the effect that the water ia falling. Reports from Narrabri and Quirindi state that the high floods have done great damage to crops, and there has been considerable losses of stock. Mail trains from Brisbane and Sydney have been delayed for fifteen hours, owing to waahaways between Mondi and Tamworth. Telegraphic communication generally has been greatly disorganised during the last few days by rain. The Northern rivers are in flood, telegraphic'coinmunication with.Queensland is cut off. j
