THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

A FIRST-CLASS ENTERTAIN- £ MENT. j ' 1 Messrs Thompson and Payne have ( produced many sterling programmes, j but without doubt the one presented } on Saturday night eclipses all pre- j vious productions. The Jarge audience , which assembled in the Foresters' , Hall fully appreciated the rich fare , placed before them, and loud applause was the order of the evening. "The Land of the Gitanos" gives a very comprehensive idea of Spanish customs and pastimes. This was followed by a very dramatic subject entitled "The Gambling Fever." This picture shows to what lergths a man will go when afflicted by this Terrible curse. Patrons were next 'presented with a highly divert ting picture, "The Wife's Wine." As this poor lady's husband had read "good wine makes a man strong," he proceeded to acquire strength, and judging by his performances achieved his <.tjject. An extremely educative film was the next on the list, "Making Fou* tain Pens." Users ot this article will hardly credit the multitude of processes to which the crude rubber used is put before being readytor use. "The Fair Delores" is a Spanish Jove drama, and Is full of exciting incident". "Sweet anr? Twenty" is a good comedy subject, and caused extreme hilarity. "The Renunciation" is one of the star pictures of the evening, and the sympathy of the audience went with the two chums who were nearly shedding each other's blood for a eirl who was already engaged. "The Nfltherlands" gives an insight to this j quaint country and people. The pic- ; tura that created intense enthusiasm was "The Convict s Sacrifice." This picture is full cf dramatic /interest, and although thf leading actor is one who has offended against his country's laws, cne cannot help thinking there is many a noble heart beneath tie coovict' rlress. "The Dog and the Hone" sent all away in a ripple of merriment. The management wish to notify the public that in future their programmes will be changed on Thursday and Monday.
