SEVERAL SHOPS DESTROYED. DAMAGE AMOUNTS TO £IOO,OOO. United Press association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received January 14, 10 p.m. LONDON, January 14. A fire occurred at Evans' drapery stores at KiJburn (a metropolitan suburb five miles S.W of St. Paul's), doing damage to the extent of £IOO,000. The fire was caused through an electric wire fusing in a window filled with underclothing. Ten shops were destroyed, but luckily these were empty owing to early closing, the majority of the hundred assistants being absent. There were no casualties.
