(From Our Resident Reporter). Thursday. The tender of Mr A. East for the fruit and stall has been accepted*py the Woodville Show Committee for their forthcoming Show on the 26th inst., of this month. , The road to the Racecourse today and yesterday was thronged with vehicles of all descriptions, and it is pleasing to note that not one accident occurred during either day. Good order was maintained in town, and there was no scenes or disturbances on the course or in town. No accidents occurred to any of the jockeys either day. The committee of the PahiatuaAkitio A. and P. Association antici- j pate a very large entry for the big j jumping competition, the first prize of which is £ls. A large amount of interest is being taken in the other horse events by local horsemen, one well-known sport handing to the secretary the other morning entry fees a mounting to £3 Is. The Borough workmen have made a start to re-tar and sand the footpaths in the Borough. The main square, which was recently sown and grassed by the Beautifying' Committee, is now looking well and was highly commented by visitors to the town.this morning. Judging from a glance into several orchards, there should be a good yield of fruit in this district this season.
