THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.
1 The Thompson-Payne pictures (again received their full quota of patronage, last evening, when the new programme was submitted for the second time. A fir&t-class cinematograph performance depends on , i good projecting apparatus, the best ' quality of films, a powerful light and J skilful operator; all these essential features are combined in Messrs I Thompson and Payne's up-to-date exhibition. The film library of this enterprising firm is of such an extensive nature that they could (if necessary) change their programme every night for two years, and not repeat a subject, but this would not give patrons a fair chance of seeing them as time perhaps would not permit. Therefore the proprietors wisely curtail their changes of programme to twice weekly, namely, Saturday and Wednesday. There is no need to again mention the merit of these performances, as the Mastarton I public have had three months' con- ; tinuoiss running tj fjr themselves, and judging by thr>. attendances, have not failed to perceive they are getting full value for their money. The incidental music accompanying the pictures is well rendered, but a change of items now and again would be very acceptable. Mr Payne, the general manager of the firm, will be in Masterton this week, when further alterations for the comfort of patrons will be made, and especially in the way of ventilation. The next change of programme will take place on Wednesday next, when some special novelties are expected.
