MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon last. There were present Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), D. Caselberg, J. I f, rns, J. Cress, F. Dorset, A. G. Pilmer, O. C. Cooper, W. Cooper, W. D. Watson, D. Donald. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. .J Welch and W. Piatt.
The secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference wrote forwarding acknowledgement of registration of racing colours for Messrs A. G. Pilmer, C. F. Vallance, and J. Johnson. Mr T. Cameron wrote accepting the position of starter. Application was made by T. McCann for a jockey's license. On the motion <*f Mr Caselberg, the application was referred to the Taranaki Jockey Club, The treasurer's statement showed —Racing Club account, dr., £289 14s sd; totalisator account, cr., £32 3s sd. Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., wrote stating that he did not think the Racing Bill would affect the Club. The matter of the catering at the cottage was discussed, and the seci©« tary was instructed to make arrangements with Mr J. Scorrar, on the basis that he should have control of the cottage. It was decided that the charge for admission at the outside gstes be 2s instead of la. This was the onlyj alteration made. The bookmakers' fees were fixed at the following rates:—lnside £2O 10s, outside £lO 10s, including clerk. The general catering arrangements were left in the hands of the catering committee.
