Mr G. P. Donnelly is spoken of as a candidate for the Hawke'* Bay seat at the next election. Mrs R. B. McKenzie, daughter of Hon. John Bryce, an old and wellknown resident of Carnarvon, died in a private hospital at Palmerston North, yesterday, of appendicitis. The Town Clerk of Masterton (Mr W. T. Mansfield) and Mrs Mansfield • returned to town on Saturday afternoon last after spending a pleasant holiday at Castlepoint. Mr J. D. Fraser, of the, Dunedin Post Office, who has just been retired, owing to enforcement ot the age-limit regulations, is one of the oldest employees of the postal service in New Zealand. He joined it at Nelson as a cadet in January, 1863, and has been employed as senior registered-letter clerk at Dunedin for the past thirteen years.
