Mr W. A. Kiely, manager of the Waimate branch of the Union Bank, has been promoted to Hastings. Ihe death is reported of Mr James Owen Russell, a well-known resident of Raumai, at the early age of 34 years. Mr J. B. Heywood, I.S.C, Assistant Controller and Auditor-General, has resigned his position in order to retire on superannuation on March 3lßt next, when he will have completed thirly-eight years' service under the New Zealand Government. Yesterday morning Mr and Mrs R. Brown, of Masturton, received the sad intelligence that their eldest daughter, Mrs R. Robinson, had died early that morr,ing in Christchurch. The deceased lady, who was 39 years of age, leaves a husband and six children to mourn their loss. Mr and Mrs Brown and family will have the deep sympathy of a very large number of friends in the bereavement that they have sustained. The late Mr Alexander Grigg, who died recently at the age of 69, was an old identity. He arrived in New Zealand 57 years ago, and was for some time in business in the Wairarapa. Deceased's father was Mr Robert Grigg, who was in charge of the Barrack stores in New South Wales for many years. A brother was closely identified with journalism in the North fcland. The late Mr Grigg leaves a family of seven —-six sons and one daughter.
