It is usual after the two other sales have pra - tically cleared the market «f liechc conditioned woo! to find '.he catalogue filled largely »'ith a coarser and heavier type, and to-day way no exception. The wool generally, although of coarse quality, was good of its own particular kind, and our catalogue was thoroughly representative of the best wools of the district. It was a day for Bradford wool, and there were apparently strong orders from that quarter. America was represented, and took what lines were suitable at recent rates. Coarse, medium anu inferior wool showed an advance of Jd, and aa much as Id in some insstances, on last sale prices. There was an excellent demand for lambs, and best l»nes sold up to Hid. Tnere werj several j new buyers after locks; pieces and J scouring Jots, and these were cleared at high figures. Messrs DalgetyanJ Company, Ltd., report:—We held our third wool sale of the season yesterday, when we offered a catalogue of 6,464 bales out of a total of 19,637, and sold 5,731 bales at auction. The quality of the wool offered wasjnot quite so good as that offered at the December sale, and, as is usual at this time of the year, the .clips were much heavier in the grease, although some wool fit for the American market came forward in very bright and light condition. Competition was keen throughout the sale, and there was a larger attendance of buyers than previously, several new Continental houses being in the field, while local buyer?, as usual, operated freely. One of the features of our sale was the quantity of meriDo wool offered, several leading Marlborough station clips being submitted which have never been offered locally before, and from results realised we think there is every prospect of their continuing to support this marftet. Some very fine lines of lambs' wool were offered, which opened out well and met with a very good demand. Prices ruling today, after allowing tor the extra amount of grease in the wool, were practically on a par with the last sale tor medium and line wool. Crossbred wool showed an increase of Jd to ?sd

per ib, while pieces advanced £d to fd per lb. The following table will show how prices this month compared with those of December: — December, January, 1909. 1910. Merino super lid to lljd Medium merino 9gd to 102 d 9id to lOftd Half bred. ' 'super 12fd to 13£ d 12d to 13fd Medium halfbred lOd to ll|d lOd to llgd Super crossbred 1.1 id to 133; dll |d to 12d Continued on paga 7.
