N.I. CHAMPIONSHIP RIFLE MEETING.

THE VICTORIOUS OPAKI TEAM.

RIFLEMAN KING'S RECORD.

The members of the Opa'ci Rifle Club who to:k part in the North Island Championship meeting at Wanganoi on Monday and Tuesday returned to Masterton yesterday after • noon. The competitors were most successful at the meeting, and they were the recipients of many congratulations on their return to Masterton. As announced in yesterday's issue the Champion North Island Teams Match drew nine entries, and for the fourth time in succession the handsome Challenge Shield was annexed by the Opaki Club, with a score of 427. Rifleman Winslade, of Opaki, also carried off the individual prize trophy with the splendid score of 94.

The Championship Belt was again «'on by Opaki, ex-champion R. J. King being the winner with a score of 313. Rifleman King, who is in particularly good form this season, is the holder of no less than four championships, viz., Nor,tb Island, Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa and North Wairarapw. In a short interview with a representative of the Wairarapa Aure yesterday, the champio* had nothing but p'ai'se for the com plate arra'ißeini-ntH nvide in connection with the Wauganui meeting. "Yes," he stated, "we all had a splenoid time, and enjoyed ourselves immensely. On the first day we experienced a front tricky wind, varying from ricjht to left, but on the second day a howling gale reigned supreme, which the younger shots found puzzling. I attribute my success largely to the use of the new B.S.A. aperture sight. Rifleman Mcintosh shot extremely well, and he was leading right up to the firing for the final. It was very hard luck that he did not get second place, and as it was he was only one bshind the man who beat him." It will be remembered that Rifleman Henry won the Championship last year. Rifleman King's score at 800 yards in this year's Championship was as follows
