A severe heat wave prevails. There are bush fires in all directions. At Donald many acres of standing crops and twenty thousand bags of wheat were burned. The total damage is estimated at £50,000. At Uobram, 1,600 bags of wheat and 60 acres of barley were destroyed. Ac Charlton, an old man named Steward entered a burning house to secure valuables, and was burned to death. Reports from other districts show that immense area of grass and much crops have been destroyed. A number of settlers have lo3t their homes. REPORTS FROM NEW SOUTH WALES. GREAT DESTRUCTION IN R.VERINA DISTRICT. SYDNEY, December 22. There has been great destruction by bush fires in the Riverina district. The losses include much bagged wheat, standing crops and stock.
