FATAL ACCIDENTS.

By Telegraph—Press Association. FEILDING, December 22 A fatal accident occurred at Apiti, this atternoon, when Mrs Picken, wife of Professor Picken,of Victoria College, Wellington, was killed. Mrs (Dr ) Gregory and child, with Mrs Picken, were returning from the lake in a gig when the horse shied and the hub of the wheel struck a stump. Thu occupants were thrown out on the metalled road. Mrs Picken sustained such injuries to her head that she .died almost immediately. Mrs Gregory and child were severely bruised and shaken. Professor Picken and family recently arrived from Wellington with the intention of spending "three months' holiday at Apiti. DUNEDIN, Decehiber22. Mrs Mary McKendry, aged fortyfour, was injured internally on Monday at Highcliff, through a trap cap sizing. She was removed to the hos--pital, where she died this morning. By Telegraph—Press CHRISTOHURGH, December 22. George Cousins, aged "40, a la bmrer, married, and employed at Cooksley'3 brickworks, Opawa, met with a ratal accident whilst undermining a facing of clay which collapsed, partially burying him. He was immediately extricated, but succumbed half an hour after from internal injuries.
