Owing to its geographical position s*nd the excellent train services, it is not necessary for the majority of horses engaged at the ManaWatu meeting to leave home till a day or two before the meeting. Consequently, the onlv new arrivals at Awapuni so far are the Southern horses, including Sir Geo. fliffora'd team—Formeden, Tawhaki, and Paisano To-morrow. however, there will be a big influx of vi&i ing horses, the majority of whom have obtained accommodation at Awapu ii, whilst £ e rest are in . town. Very, little work was done on the tracks this morning. Tawhaki, who claims both Cup and Hack engagements, did easy ■pace work, which was slightly improved upon by H. Cutts, who worked thejnembers of his team a bit faster.
