PRESIDENT ZELAYA RESIGNS. TO SAVE TROUBLE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received December 19, 5.5 p.m. NEW ifORK, December 18. President Zelaya has telegraphed to President Taft announcing that he has resigned in order to avoid harm coming to the country, and to enable Nicaragua to renew friendly relations with the United States. President Zelaya's nominee, Senor Madrid, is unacceptable as a successor either to the revolutionaries or the United States.
