FURTHER AC HON BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. The matter of the unsatisfactory j ail way timetable arrangements came up fur discussion at the meeting of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce yesterday, when a letter was read from the Eketahuna' Chamber of Commerce asking the Chamber to note *the various delays and inconveniences caused by the alteration in the timetable, with a view to making further representations to the Minister with regaid to the question. Mr F. W. Uarey (Chairman) said the new service was certainly instituted ac the most awkward tima of the year. Mi* J. D. Cruiekshank said they should support the Eketahuna Cham ber, and after the session a united stand should be taken. The timetable was not even adhered to, and the result was a great source of annoyance and inconvenience to travel--1 ers. The Chairman said if the tablet system was as good as stated there should be no reason for the delays now occurring with practically every train. Mr C. E. Dauiell said it was impossible for the Department to cope with work under the present system. He moved that a committee from the' Chamber be set up to formulate and gather all necessary facts tor future action. Mr G. C. Summerell seconded the motion, and the President (Mr J. B. Moodie), Vice-President (Mr F. W. Carey) and Mr Daniell were appointed to deal with the matter. The Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce forwarded a telegram stating that a good deal of discontent was felt at the fact that no train was leaving there for Masterton on Christmas morning. The matter was discussed at length, but decision was deferred pending further information regardthe running of the trains on the date mentioneJ.
