TURF NOTES. By "Zetland"). The English-bred mare Ringdove has been withdrawn from her Auckland engagements, and will probably compete at Tauhertnikau on New Year's Day. Prince Foote. the champion three-year-old of Australia, haa won in stakes £12,145. The whole of Mr S. H. Gollan's thoroughbred horses are to be sold by public auction in January. King Gatna, the first of Stronghold's progeny, was a competitor at the Christchurch meeting last week:. The annual sales of thoroughbreds bred at the Cambria and Glenora Park studs, Auckland, are to be held during the first week in January. H. Gray still holds the lead among .winning jockeys this season with 31 wins, R. Hatch is second on the list with 18. Both riders should increase their scores during the holiday sea-
Kegulation has broken down, and it is not expected that the Regal mare will again be raced. Nominations for the Wellington summer meeting close to-night, while entries for the Pahiatua meeting are due on Tuesday. Roosevelt has gone through a good preparation, and has been sent North with a view to racing in the Auckland Cup. Mr A. G. Pilmer has just broken in a four-year-ola gelding by Merrie England, and may put Sealer into work again shortly. King's Prize has been showing improved work of late, and may race well at the holiday fixtures. Although the entries for the Manawatu meeting were not so numerous' as expected, the handicappers' allotments have proved satisfactory to owners, who have responded well with acceptances.
