METEOROLOGICAL.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON,-December 16. The following is the Rev. D. C. j Bates' summary and forecast:— | Heavy rain has fallen on the West j Coast of tbe South Island, and a heavy thunderstorm was also experienced there last night.. Strong westerly gales were experienced in parts south of New Plymouth and Napier, and westerly winds have prevailed with cloudy weather in most parts and occasional showers in some. A further fall in pressure is due in the South, but the present indications show no definite developments in that direction, and strong westerly winds with cloudy and unsettled weatherwill probably change shortly to southerly winds, with showery weather and a rising barometer.
