THE CONGO.
Received December 16, 11.35 p.m. LONDON, December 16. Sir Edward Grey (Foreign Secretary), speaking at Beswick, referred to the Congo, remarking that the question would remain unsettled until Congo was placed in the hands of an elected Government or responsible to a free Parliament. ' He added: Britain was waiting m hope arid expectation that the Congo would receive the treatment all civilised countries give their colonies. Kccelved December 16, 1T.15 p.m. BRUSSELLS, December 16. In the Belgian Chamber M. Renkin (Minister for the Colonies) declared that te British pressand platformjattacks on the Congo was a grave insult to Beligum. The Congo could bear comparison with other countries. He urged unity in order to oppose all foreign interference.
