LEASE-IN-PERPETUITY SECTIONS.
The number of tenants under the lease-in-perpetuity system, including: ,the Cheviot Special Settlement Act, who have sold the goodwill of their leases, is 1,794. The number of times the goodwill of buch sections has been sold is 2,965. In one case, £4,125 was.received for the goodwill, the valuation for improvements being £1,842. In another case, £2,200 was received for tiae goodwill of one lease at the first sale, and £4,000 at the second sale, the valuation in the first instance for improvements , being £256, and in the second instance £475. In.one instance (in Hawke's Bay) £6,500 was received for eroodwill, the valuation for improvements being £2,123. In another case in Hawke's Bay as much as £7,810 was received for goodwill, the valuation for improvements being £1,415.
