INSURANCE FOR PEACE.
Apart from the value of a system of universal military training to New Zealand, the benefits, both physical and moral, which it wili confer upon the young men of the country cannot be ef-estimated. Someday the independence of the Dominion and the very existence of the nation may turn on the ability <>f New Zealand to muster every citizen in defence, and if that day should come we want to be trained ai.d prepared. With an efficient navy and a large and well-trained citizen army, the British Empire will rest secure, and New Zealand, we o feel sure, wili do her part towards bringing about this desired consummation.
