MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUST

The monthly meeting of the Trustees of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last evening. There were present:—Messrs C. E. Daniell (chairman), H. C. Robinson, 0. Pragnell, K. Krahagen, W. H. Jackson, T. Wagg, E. G. Eton, D. Caselberg,, T. Michell.

The Treasurer reported a credit balance at the bank of £1,441 lOd; rents [ received from November 12th to December 10th, £562 13s 4d; Carey's Estate, £3O; Town Hall account, £l3 15s; total, £606 8s 4d. Accounts amounting to £232 8s 2d were passed for payment. Mr H. W. Jackson wrote offering £4 10s per annum for three sections in Bannister street. It was decided that the applicant be offered three sections, No. 9, 10, 11. for a period of 14 years, the Trust not to be responsible for rates or fencing, nor to give access to the property. The Secretary of the Wellington Harbour Board forwarded instalments of loan of £B3 10s and £333.

The Town Clerk, Dannevirke, wrote asking for information regarding the cost and takings of the Town Hall. The Masterton Municipal Brass Band and the Masterton South Band j forwarded dates of intended public ! performances. It was decided to infoim both bands that the balance of the grant would be paid at the end of March, provided that the public performances were continued. A draft of the proposed Bill for the exchange of sites was received from the Minister for Justice. The Minister further stated that the question of access to the right-of-way would have to stand over for the present. In response to a question from Mr Pragnell as to whether the Bill would be passed through the House this session the Chairman said he thought it would. It was decided that the Bill be approved subject to a slight correction in defining the area The Secretary (Mr A. Hathaway) was granted three weeks' leave of absence. The Salvation Army wrote asking for a rebate on the rent paid for the Town Hall in connection with the recent concert. It was decided to remit half the rent.
