PAHIATUA NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Thursday. Two rinks consisting of Messrs J. Hughes, W. Mcßratney, J. Sayers, W. Ransom, J. Nicholas, W. H. Hawkins, E. H. Petherick, and J. A. Walsh, represented Pahiatua yesterday, at the opening of the Teriace End (Palmerston North) Bowling Green. The weather conditions were perfect, and the visitors w«re treated right royally. The members of the local club displayed excellent form. The players present were arranged into teams (eight rinks in all) and represented the President aud Vice-President respectively. In consequence of the rush of entries at the very last moment it has been decided to extend the time for receiving nominations in connection with the Mangatainoka Athletic Society's Boxing Day Sports till Saturday evening- next, at 8 p.m. Messrs W. Tosswill, G. A. Burgess and the secretary of the PaihatuaAkstio Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Mr J. A. Walsh) motored to Konini yesterday afternoon, for the purpose of being present at the testing of the samples of milk obtained from the various cows entered for the dairy cow competition. The testing, which was done by Mr Denny Kelly, of the Konini branch of the Ballance Dairy Company, was carried out without the slightest hitch. The result will be made known in a few days. As regards the greatest quantity of milk, the Scarborough district is easily first.
