PERFORMED AT SEA.
A DIFFICULT OPERATION. BY A NEW ZEALAND DOCTOR. Received December 8, 10 40 a.m. SYDNEY, December 8. Dr. Foote, a New Zealander, a passenger by the steamer Nairnshire, successfully performed a difficult operation during the voyage. „ One ot the stokers was stricken by appendicitis, and was in a critical condition. Dr. Foote decided that an operation was necessary to save the man's life, and without any expert assistance, and during a heavy gale, carried it through successfully. The man is progressing satisfactorily.
