Colonel Gorton, of Palmerston North, who has been ill for several months, ia reported to be in a very low condition.
An erstwhile resident of Dannevirke, Mrs K. Whitehead, died recently at Moree, near Wairoa. Mr John Johnston, who died at Kaihuku on Wednesday, at the ripe age of 87, has been a noled sheep breeder in the Clutha district for many years. He came to New Zealand in the Royal Albert in 1853. Dr Ivan S. Wilson, at present junior medical iffher at the Naprer Hospital, has been appointed senior medical officer at the institution in succession to Dr W. W. Moore, resigned At the residence of the bride'j mother "Fernside," Opaki, yesterday, Miss Maude Cameron, youngest daughter of the late Mr J. Cameron and Mrs Cameron, was married to Mr WilUam Clare Roberts, youngest son of Lieutenant-Colonel Roberts, of Auckland, and at one time Stipendiary Magistrate in Masterton. The bride waa handsomely attired in cream chiffon taffeta, trimmed with a panel of BruFsels lace opening over a Vest of tucked chiffon, with white hat I With gold band and ospreys. She wa? attended as bridesmaids by her sister, Miss Mary Cameron, and nieces, j Misses Annie and Essie Cameron, j The bridegroom's gift to the bride I was a diamond and pearl pendant, j and to thebridesmaids matrix bracelets. The bride was* given away by her brother, Mr D. Cameron, of Pahaoa, East Coast, and Mr H. Rawson was best man. Mr and Mrs Roberts were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents, testifying to their popularity. The honeymoon is to be spent at Auckland and Rotorua. The future home of Mr and Mrs Roberts will be in the Bay of Plenty district.
