PAHIATUA NEWS.

' (From Our Resign!; Reporter) Monday. JUVENILE CONCERT. Standing room only was the condition of things at the Olympic Theatre on Friday night last, when the curtain rose upon a chorus of about iorty boys and girls, who sang very brightly "Kinging Cheerily." This was followed by a well rendered violin solo "Springtime," by Master Ken Thiel and the tableau "The Photographer." A wee girl ot six summers, Miss D. Baucke, delighted the audience next with a recitation "When Cranny was a Girl," and Master George Clifton sang in character "Up to. Dick." Next was a song and chorus with tableau effect by twelve girls dressed as Geisha girls, the solo being taken by Miss Isabel Emsley, followed by a beautiful tableau. "The Battle of Roses." The effect was enhanced by coloured lights being thrown upon the stage. The next item was Kan Drill and a dialogue by very small girls with dollies, "Oh, it's no joke being a baby." "Nursery Rhymes Waxworks" brought the first half of the programme to a close. In the second half uf t-e pr • a: me a pianoforte duet by Misses Marten and Una Hughes was followed by musical fairy tales in tableau and fairy songs and drill, Miss Ciasie Tullock making a beautiful Fairy Queen. Master Horace Falloon in" character sang "Chin Chin Chinaman," and had to respond to an encore. Then followed th 3 Flower Gatherers and Floral March, tha effect of which was very pleasing. Miss-Ada Taylor recited well, and the tableau ''Dream Faces" and chorus "Good Night" brought an excellent proeramme to a close. Rev. W. H. Speer thanked the parents for assistance in providing the fancy dresses, and for generous partonage; Miss Marten, who almost unaided trained the children; and Mr McAlister for use of the piano. The accompaniments were played by Mns Una Hughes and Miss Mar„ten. A verse of the National Anthem brought the concert to a close. A substantial sum has been realised in aid of the Methodist Church.
