CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.

Mr J. W. O'Connor applie i for permission to cut manuka on Blackhill Road. The request was declined. Mr Cameron wrote stating that Contract No. 33 was finished except a small bridge, and he applied for a progress payment of £3OO. The mattar was held over pending the Engineer/ approval. # .Tr.e Minister of Internal Affairs wrota stating that a Special Order wa3 gazetted in respect to Riding boundaries and special rates on W ingate's Bridge Loan, and an additional 10 pet cent, on a loan of £BOO for the Whakataki-Castlepoint Road.
Messrs Brandon, Hislop and Johnston wrote io respect to the taking of live acres of land for a roadman's cottage, which wan referred to the County Solicitor to reply. The Returning Officer was directed
to hold an election on the 20th December of Councillor for the four new Ridings and arrange to take a vote of ratepayers on the rating on unimproved values on the same date a petition having been received demanding a poll to rescind same. The Clerk was directed to write to the Premier and Mr Buchanan, re-
qu€Btion that the preßent borrowing powers under the Loans to Local Bodies Act be not disturbed. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £489 7s 6d, credit on Loan Account £IOO. Accounts amounting to £234 14s 2d were passed for payment
