WAIRARAPA P. AND A. SOCIETY.

'From Our Carterton Correspondent.) A meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society was held at Carterton ye £- tirday, about thuty members being present. Mr H. R. Bunny (President) was in the chair. The chairman and members accord ed Mr H. H. Wolters a hearty welcome back from his trip Home.

The treasurer's statement was read disclosing a satisfactory state of affairs. Mr A V. Collins, of Kaikoura North, was accorded a vote of thanks for the donation of the framed photographs of champion Romneys at the recent show. A communication was received from the Vice-Consul of the Argentine Republic, stating that a large exhibition was to be held in th 3 Argentine in June and July of next year, and offering to supply information to intending vibitors. The Minister of Agriculture wrote to the President, suggesting that the Society should appoint a delegate to confer with the Department from time to time on the proposals that were brought forward affecting ttie interests of the rural was stated that all societies were being asked to do the same.—Mr H. R. Bunny was appointed delegate to represent the society.

The recommendation of the se! 00l garden plots j ldge, Mr A. R. Hadfield, that the date for judging be November 30th, was adopted.

3 Messrs P. Ireland, E. D. O'Rorke, C. Withell (judges), and Messr< Nelson Bros., J. R. Elliot', C. Strid (exhibitors) wrote in high appreciation of the Society's attention en the occasion of the recent show. Five new members wrie elected. A vote of thanks as accorded tu the judges and stewards, railway department and staff, Mr T. P. Saxelby, for testing milk, and Messrs W. Howard Botoh and W. C.Buchanan for the donation of mangolds, hay and straw.

It as decided to convey the Society's appreciation to the Railway Department for the clean nature oi the trurks placed at tne disposal of exhibitors, it being mentioned that there had been no complaints satisfaction on all sides having been expressed.

Messrs H. R. Bunny, E. Eagle junr., W. Howard Booth, H. H. Wolters, T. V. Moore and G. W. Deller were appointed a sub-commit-tee to endeavour to establish a Ram Fair in the South Wairarapa in February next, and report at the next meeting of the General Committee. At a meeting of the Finance Committee yesterday morning, accounts amounting to ,£B9 lis lid were passed for payment.
