WITHHOLDING INFORMATION.

CHRISTCHURCH, December 2, The refusal of the Government to give details of the revenue and expenditure oi the Christchurch ■- Lyttelton line has not been received with favour. The Mayor says that the systematic obstruction offered seems to show that there is more behind it than one thinks, and the Government are probably making more profits than is represented by the railway returns. The attitude assumed by the ment will strengthen the agitation for a canal.
