Thi; ha 1 been clone by the Chairman prior to the meeting, and the Hun. t!ie Premier's reply was considered very unsatisfactory, as he declined to differentiate between loans for roads and bridges, in winch the whole population is more or less inter;steel, and loans for mere local requirements. Mr N. Nielsen forwarded a report on the present condition of Mangamahoe road, find the probable result of heavy timber traffic. Notices of approaching elections were received from secretaries of hospitals and charitable institutions. The following tentiers were received for metalling on the Mauricevilla North Road:—Nils Andersen, 2s 6ri per cubic yard for first m ile, and Is extra for each additional mile; Larsen Bros., Is 9d per cubic yard for first mile, and elevenpence extra for each additional mile. Larson Bros.' tender was accepted. It was resolved that Mr J. Anderson, sawmiller, be notified to attend next meeting, with a view to taking out a license under the Timber Traffic By-law, and agree to a bond. The Clerk was appointed to represent the Council on the deputation proceeding to Wellington to meet the Minister of Railways.., Accounts amounting to £lO9 17a 6d were passed t'or payment. The next ordinary meeting will be held on Saturday, the 18th December, instead of the regular date which falls on Christmas day.
