(From Oar Resident Reporter) Tuesday. SUICIDE. Constable Tanner received word this afternoon that a man named Herbert Bargh, a dairy tanner at Mancaramaramn, single, aged 2l>, committed suicide by hanging himself in his own cowshed
The deceased got up at the usual time mi Ike 1 hi a cows and took the milk to the factory, but had no br:akfast He was last seen alive by his brother at 10 a.m. The latter found the deceased hanging from a rafter in the cowshed at 1.30 p.m. The shed is gome distance from the house. The deceased bad only been in tha Dominion a few years. lie bad been suffering from indifferent health during the last.faw weeks. He was secretary of the Mangaramarama Cooperative Cheese Company.
Thirty-five entries have been received for the dairy cow competition in connection with the Pahiatua ( Akitio A. and P. A meeting of residents of Hukanui was held last evening, when it was unanimously decided to tender a fartwell social on Friday evening to Mr and Mrs F. Morris, who are leaving that district for pastime new. During the ten years they have occupied the Post Office store in Hukanui both j Mr and Mrs Morris have helped many a struggling settler, and keen regret has been expressed at their departure. Mr Morris is chairman of the School Committee, and has always been a keen football enthusiast, having played for several years for the Hukanui Football Club. He has been secretary for the Bush Rugby Union for the past three seasons. Mrs Morrirf will be greatly missed in social functions. The Pahiatua Licensing Committee will meet in Woodville to-morrow morning. Inquiries for entry forms for nomination for the Mangatainoka Athletic Society's sports on Boxing Day are being received by the secretary from various parts of the North Island. The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Chamber of Commerce was held last evening. The balance sheet presented showed a credit balance of £l3 3s Bd, with outstanding accounts amounting' to £3 9s. Officers for thj year were elected as follows Prseident, Mr
W. Tosswill (re-elected); VicePresident, Mr A. a. Evans; Council, Messrs Burgess, Carpenter, Cilfton, Debreceny, Herbert, McLennan, Oxley, Prosser and Sturton. Two new members were elected, and the secretary was voted a bonus of two guineas.
A children's performance will be given in the Methodist Church on Friday evening, under the supervision of Miss Martin. Tho proceeds from the entertainment will be devoted to the church fund.
The largest supplier to the Konini butter factory, Mr Thos. Avery, is now delivering daily over 4,000b1s of milk. The largest milk supplier in the Bush district is Mr M. Alpass senior, who delivers to the Konini butter factory, Tarnrua cheese factory, and Mangatainoka cheese factory over G,noolbs of milk dail'\ This is as much aa is being receive ! altogether at several creameries in the Dominion.
STOCK MARKET. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd , report on their P.F.A. sale of to-day as follows: —We submitted a good yarding of sheep and cat tle to a good attendance of buyers, Both sheep and cattle met good enquiry, and we cleared practically the whole yarding either by auction or private trjaty.
