Bates' summary and forecast:—Tne weather has continued very unsettled about the East Cape; mild ana hurnid generally ulsewhere, but very changeable in tie South, whera the barometer has also been \ ery unsteady. Fogs are reported on the E ist Coast this evening with Bteady brv.ez'-s? The present indications are for fnshening easterly winds with increasing cloudiness and fog and drizzling showers in pans. The barometer will probably rise slightly southward t>f New Plymouth and Napier, and fall more rapidly with winds veeriag to the northward after 24 hoar*, with rain probably following.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at .he Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding ft a.m. on Monday was 11 points,
