From Our Resident Reporter. Wednesday. Yesterday Mr B. Wadham's trotting sire, Brooklyn, had to be destroyed, [through fracturing one of its legs. It was only recently that its owner refused a hundred guineas for the animal. This morning a successful canvass was made by Messrs J. J. Mead and W. Uownard in '.he interests of the prize fund of the Horticultural Society. Mr G. H. Herbert, engineer to the South Wairarapa County Council has given three months notice of his intention to resign the position. Th 3 funeral of the late Mrs Ernest Dorset will take place at the Grey- f town Cemetery to-morrow afternoon, leaving her late residence, Belvadere, at one o'clock. The brethren'

Edwards bad the fortune to lose a valuable mare yesterday, it bavins to be destroyed through a fractured leg. Some days ago it injured a leg in a wire fence, and had been resting a good deal In endeavouring to'spring up it put too severe a strain upon iis hind leg?, with the above mentioned result. While returning to Carterton from Gladstone yesterday, three ladies had an unpleasant experience. They were driving down the hill near "Hawarden," when tne horse stumbled and fell. Mrs Thompson, wife cTthe Hev. L. fharnpson, was driving, and fortunately had a tight rein on the animal, and it soon regained its feet. Mrs Rains and Miss Spragg were the other occupants of the vehicle, Mrs Rains sustaining a sprained ankle through being thrown out. A party of local bowlers will leave here in the morning for Wel--1 rig ton.
