From Our Resident Reporter. Monday. It is reporter! that the Marquis.of Normanby Hotel will, chango hands at the end of trie current month, the present licensee, Mr W.. M.. Beechey; home work, Mesdames E. Eagle, junr., and, A. King. Messrs H. Foole (Wellington), T. Hale (Masterton) and Mrs Bey (Greytown) are the judges appointed.

In S. Mark's Church, yesterday morning, the Rev. Mr Ivens, of the

Melanesian Mission, gave an interesting address upon the work of the mission. The Christmas vacation of 3. Mark'a Sunday School will commence after Sunday, December 19tb, for four weeks. The prize distribution will take place on the Monday following. ; The takings in connection with the Methodist Curio Exhibition and sale of work was over £ll3, and goods that will realise about £8 remain. Lance-Corporal Salmon, of the Rifle Volunteers, has been transferred to the reserve. The town was visited by a gale at an early hour this morning. As the day grew old it abated, and only a little damage, but not of a serious nature, is recorded. Mr H. J. E. Meyrick, sustained an injury to a finger on Saturday while engaged making bee hives. The wood slipped, and brought his finger in contact with the grooving machine, completely severing it at the first joint. The health of Mra E. E. Dorset is at present causing anxiety to her relatives.
