THE VILLAGE PAIR.
The Masterton youth Brass Bund were unfortunate in encountering unfavourable weather conditions for the opening night of their "VMlage Fair," organised in aid of the Instrument Fund. That the committee has
■■•devoted considerable time and trouble A|o the various arrangements in connection with the Fair is evidenced by the attractive appearance of the interior of the Kuripuni Hall. In spite of the weather, however, there was a good attendance last evening, the (stallholders experiencing a busy time. Prior to the opening the members of the band rendered a number •of selection* outside the hall. Various competitions were held, which contributed largely to the evening's amusement. During the evening a number.of songs and recitations were and Miss C. Graham officiated very capably at the piano. The stallholders are as follow: — Linen stall, Mrs M. A. Andrew; fancy stall, Mrs T. Jtfraggins; vegetable stall, Mrs W. Yalden; light drinks and fruit stall, Mr W. Harding; telegraph, Miss M. Andrew; refreshment stall, Mrs F. Harding. The Fair will be continued again this ■evening, when included in the change of programme will be a minstrel troupe entertainment, in which the
leading parts will be taken by Messrs YaldeX H. Harding and C. Bentley. To-morrow evening a monster social will be held. A special word of praise is due to the energetic secretary, Mr F. T. Harding, the band committee and the ladies' ■committee, for the considerable trouble they have taken in arranging the various details of the Pair 'Given fina weather there should be a llarge attendance this evening.
