BREACH OF BANKRUPTCY ACT.
ACCUSED SENT TO GAOL. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, No\ember 20. " In the Supreme Court Ernest Tytr pleaded guilty to a charge of breach of the Bankruptcy Act in failing to keep proper books. His father stated that accused had no bad debts, and was faimply not intelligently capable. He had been a muddler from his birth.
Mr Justice Cooper said the judges had come to the conclusion that this was not a class of offence in which probation could properly be granted. In six months' traie the sum of £1,500 was unaccounted for. The evidence did not disclose criminal intent, but it did disclose gross incompetence. In the circumstances he imposad the light sentence of three months' imprisonment without hard iabaur.
