In the House this afternoon the Petitions Committer recommended that the Government institute an enquiry into the claims of old soldiers. The Premier said that the Government proposed to set up authority in each distuct to enable each case to b? reported on by magistrates and have them Fettled next session. Replying to Mr W. T. Jennings (Taumarunui), the Premier said that hi' would consider the granting of w tr medals to oid soldiers entitled to them.
