The wedding of Mr John B Em:mett, of Masterton, to Miss Ellen Moore, of Feilding, was celebrated in Maaterton on Thursday last. The death is reported from Feild ing ot Mr Alexander Mackay, exJudge of the Native Land Court, aged 76 years. Rev. A. T. Thompson, of Masterton, has been granted nine months' leave of absence,"from March next, when he cor templates a trip to .England, via the Suez Canal. Mr Alfred Hill, the New Zealand composer, who has been ill for a considerable time, is gradually recovering his health. He does not intend to resume his musical work until next year. An interesting wedding took place :at West Redding, Connecticut, U.S.A., on October 6th, when Clara X. Clemens, daughter oE Samuel mens (Mark Twain), was married to Ossip Gabrilowitsch, the Russian piani9t. The wedding took place in the drawingroom at Stoxmfield, Mark Twain's country home.
