DROWNING ACCIDENTS.
A WOMAN L.OSES HER LIFE. By Telegraph —Press Association. BLENHEIM. November 15. A drowning accident occurred in the Op3wa River this moniing. Mrs Brown, wife of James Brown, bootmaker, went out, accompanied by her adopted daughter, a child of about four y ars of age, for the purpose of catching whitebait. Suddenly sfn disappeared to the bottom if the river. The child ran to the house of a neighbour, who, with assistance, recovered the body. A doctor waa summoned but found life extinct. Mrs Brown had complained this morning of not feeling well.
TWO MAORIS DROWNED. GISBORNE, November 16. News received from Te Araroa states that en Saturday morning three natives went out in a bortt fishing. They attempted to return about three o'clock in the afternoon, and when half way home the boat capsized. The occupant hung on for some time, when one Tirapira Hami dropped off and was drowned. The boat still drifted before the wind in the direction of Horoera, and s'on a second man, named Wirepu Tapinana, dropped off, anlwaqs en no more. The boat still continued drifting with the third man, Pukalca Kohere. He managed to get a p'ece of planking, and proceeded to swim. After soma time he safely reached shore at Arupua, in an exhausted condition. An oil launch left yesterday morning to make all possible search f»the bodies of the drowned men, tlit! quest was unsuccessful
