The BUggeHtion of the Prime Minister to establish a State owned ferry service between Welling tun and Lyttelton was discussed at a meeting of ihe Marlborough Chamber of Commerce last night, and the tollowing motion passed:— "That this Chamber views with alarm the suggestion to establish a State owned ferry ser vice between Wellington and Lyttelton, and the consequent, postponement of the South S*land Main Trunk' line, the progress of which has been so slow; and desire to impress on the Government the necessity for the early completion of the line in the interest pf the District and the Dominion generally. The Chamoer urges that a substantial sum be placed on the Estimates for an immediate extension of the railway."
