Owing to America under the new tariff re-imposing a tonnage tax on the great lake?, Sir WilfrU Laurier, the Canadian Premier, is aboi f . to retaliate. Only one Canadian pas'e ieer and one fraight line ard now seriously affected, but many American vessels carry grain from Port Arthur to Buffalo, and these will be subjected to a Canadian tax.
