CRICKET.
The first meeting ot the Classification Committee ot the Wairarapa Cricket Association was held last night, in Messrs Gawith and Logan's office. There were present,—Messrs E. Collinge (chairman), C. J. Mackellar, L. Smart, A. H. Rothenberg, and S. R. Edwards. T»-e merits of the members of the various junior teams were fully discussed. The opinion of the meeting was that the transferring of the junior players into the ienior ranks should be done discriminately, so as not to interfere too much with the junior players. It was uninimo;.sly resolved to classify L. Boyd as a senior. The following will represent the Masterton Club against Pahiatua on the Park Oval to-day:—Esson, Mackellar, MorehoJse, Logan, Waters. Edwards, Claughton, Thompson, Redmond, Ibhetson, Blane. Players are requested to be on the ground at 9.30. Mr E. Collinge will act as umpire.
The record first wicket partnership for the Wairarapa is 134, put up in 1906 by Maunsell and Smart for Carterton against Masterton. The j 118 runs partnership between Styles and F. Welch last Saturday was wrongly stated to be a record. The following will be the S. Matthew's cricket team to play S. Augustine's. Petone, on the Schoolgrounds, to day, commencing at 9.45 sharp:—L. Boyd, N. Boyd, G, Barr, F. Phillips, C. CUe, F. Dixon, F. Madsen, B. I\eson, V. Sutton, 6. Cresswdl, E. Perry. "With its customary disregard for facta," the Carterton "News" claims that the partnernhip of 134 by Maunsell and Smart in 1906 is "an indisputable "Wairarapa record for one wicket," but as usual the paper menj tioned is very much aßtray. The best partnership for one wicket in the I Wairarapa as far as can be ascerI tained is 158 put up by Perry and I Fish for Star against W.F.C.A. in a ' Thursday championsnip match at Masterton on December 6th, 1906. The Star's total was. 8 wickets fcr 290—innings declared closed. Fish made 91 and Perry 88.
