At the trial of Madame Sfceinheil, charged with the murder of her husband and mother in May last year, a sensation was caused by a ylath coming forward and confessing that he participated in the murder. When examined by the judge, the youth's story was found to be full of inconsistencies. The youth ultimately declared that lie believed Madame Steinheil to be innocent, and that he had chivalrously concocted the confession to save her life.

Eeceived November 8, 1.10 a.m. PARIS, November 7. There were many violent scenes yesterday at the trial, through the judge browbeating the prisoner as though he were the prosecutor. There was a constant battle between him and the prisoner, whose dramatic hysteria was remarkable even for France.
