PERSONAL.
At Hukanui last week, Mr J. Murphy, of the Hukanui railwaystaff, was married to Miss Jane Morrison, daughter of mr W. Morrison, of Mangamaire Rev. V. H. Kitcat, of Eketahuna, who will leave for his new charge at Marton in December, ia, together with Mrs Kitcat, to be tendered a farewell social at Eketahuna about December 9th. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital on Saturday afternoonlast of Mr* Vivian Geary, son of Mr D. Geary, of Mastetton. The deceased, who was in his nineteenth year, was a very popular young fellow, and his death, which was due * to paralysis, will be regretted by a wide circle of friends. Another old colonist, Mr W. Hall, died recently at his residence in Marshland, Canterbury. He arrived/ in Christchurch in 1863, and commenced dairy farming at Merivale,. but later moved to Marshland, where he resided till his death. Mr Hall took a great interest in improving the standard of dairy cows, and during the last ten or twelve years was a constant exhibitor atthe Canterbury A. and P. Association's shows. He was seventy years of age.
