CARTERTON NEWS.
From Our Resident Reporter, Friday. The anniversary of the Dalefield Methodist Church is to be celebrated on Sunday. At the afternoon service the Rev. W. G. Maslin will officiate, and in the evening Mr B. Roberts. On Thursday evening the anniversary social will take place, when the choir of the Carterton Church will assist. Mr E. Eagle, jim.. of Belvedere, won the championship for Jersey cows at the Manawatu Show. The local Friendly Societies have decided to hold a combined social on November 23rd in the Foresters' Hall, in connection with the card tournament, and in honour of Bro. JP. Molloy, who is leaving the district. It has been decided to make a charge of 2s for admission, and to issue free invitations to the singers, and the President ot the Masterton Friendly Societies' Council. iVlr C. J. Delacey has been elected secretary of the function. Bros. J. M. Nicholls, De Lacey and W Erickson have been appointed a committee to arrange several matters and report at the. next meeting. A pleasant entertainment in aid ut the funds of the Sunday School at Parkvale was held there last evening, in the presence of a good attendance. The ; programme submitted was of a delightful character, and was fully appreciated. A dance followed, Messrs Teal and Shell ably carrying out the duties of M's.C. .Mesdames Hawke and Nix were the joint secretaries. Mr H. S. Moss, Secretary of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society, who has been attending the Manawatu Show, returned home this afternoon. Mr H. Judd, of Napier, was a visitor to Carterton, to-day.
