MANAWATU SHOW.
By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., November 3. There was glorious weather and a large attendance for the first day of the Manawatu Spring Show to-day. It was somewhat of an off day, as judging was confined to the minor classes, such as pigs and poultry. The entries for pigs Wi>s larger than, the last few years, and there was a fine show of Berkshires, Yorkshires and Devons. Local breeders were the most successful. The poultry entries were small but of good quality. There were competitions throughout the day. H. J. Cameron's Senorita won the Maiden Hunters* Competition out of over thirty [competitors. The same rider had a spill on Lovell, when the latter looked a probable winer, but received no injury. Motor car driving competitions were included for the first time and proved a great success To-morrow the Governor will open, the Show officially, and thirty mem ■ bers of Parliament will be present. The judging of the sheep, cattle and horses will take place to-morrow.
