Bates' summary and forecastAn area of westerly low pressure has passed southward of Kawha and Nai pier, and the barometer has risen fast in the South with rain and some snow on the higher levels.! Tne present indications- are for light and variable winds with little move* ment of the barometer; changeable and humid conditions in the far North, but fair weather is probable eenerally. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Tuesday was 2 points. The maximum fall in 24 hours in October was 90 points, not 9 points, as previously stated. ' Mr H. G. Groves, Bush Grove, reports as follows:—The rainfall for the month was 2.88 points. The maximum fall was 1.10 points on sth. Rain fell on 14 days. The maximum temperature was 78 on the 30th, and the minimum temperature 37 on the 18th. The rainfall for Oc* tober, 1908, was 3.92 points.
